Edenhall has over 60 years’ experience in precast concrete products manufactured at a number of sites across England, Scotland and Wales offering full national coverage and distribution.

Blackstar Handling Systems were approached by Edenhall to supply a fully automatic Stretch Hooder for an existing line at their site in Retford. The stretch Hooder was required to be capable of hooding 30 loads of 900×900 and 800×800 brick pallets per hour.

Our Solution

Blackstar considered all the technical and operational requirements and decided to supply a new MH3 automatic stretch hooder from Messersi. Messersi are a worldwide supplier of Strapping and Wrapping products with an export share of over 70%.

• The MH3 Automatic Stretch Hooder is a single unit machine able to wrap and protect the customer’s product from external agents using the Stretch-Hooding System.
• The machine works with stretch film in tubular rolls with a lateral gusset.
• Possible to have up to three rolls of film, with the possibility to handle up to three different sizes or use the automatic changing function of the same format roll.
• The main innovation of the MH3 film is the ability to add a new optional hooding system called “Rotate System”. This system gives customers the ability to pack and hood wrap every product to the bottom of the pallet without the requirement of a pallet lifting device.

Blackstar completed the mechanical and electrical installation on time and to coincide with the start-up at Retford. A Service & maintenance program is also offered for this product, Blackstar not only provide a comprehensive solution for now but also provide aftercare support to clients for as long as needed.

All Blackstar Handling Systems equipment is fully modular, using quality propriety parts from suppliers such as- SEW, Nord, SICK, RHP, Siemens, Allen Bradley and Telemechaneque. Equipment is supplied with electrical devices pre-fitted unless specifically requested not to be fitted by the customer.
